Students Collaborating

Does this sound like your child?

They are curious, open-minded, and capable, but they often:

  • Procrastinate or struggle to get started

  • Forget assignments, materials, or deadlines

  • Feel overwhelmed by large tasks and competing responsibilities

  • Have difficulty staying organized and managing their time

  • Need frequent reminders to follow through

  • Want more independence but aren't sure how to achieve it

If this feels familiar, you’re likely not looking for more pressure or generic advice. You’re looking for something that will help your child build independence in a practical, sustainable way.

How We Can Help

We provide personalized executive function coaching that helps students build the skills, habits, and systems needed to manage academics with more confidence and less stress. We focus on how students learn, not just what they learn.

Our goal is to move students from feeling overwhelmed and stuck to feeling confident, capable, and in control of their lives.

What are executive functioning skills?

Executive functions refer to the cognitive skills that help us plan, organize, manage time, remember information, regulate emotions, and follow through on tasks. A helpful analogy from Harvard’s Center on the Developing Child: think of it like an air traffic control system at a busy airport, managing many planes across multiple runways. These skills develop over time and can take up to 25 years to fully mature—and even longer for individuals with attention differences.

How Coaching Works

Executive function coaching is a personalized and collaborative process focused on teaching students how to learn, not just what to learn. It's the science and art of helping learners strengthen their own capacity to get things done, both in school and in life, personalized to each student's needs, age, and level of independence.

We work with students to develop practical, simple habits, systems, and strategies that make daily life and schoolwork more manageable.

For instance, we may work on:

  • Planning backward from due dates

  • Starting tasks with the "two-minute rule" (tackling the smallest possible action first)

  • Chunking information into smaller, memorable units

  • Drafting email and message templates for contacting teachers

  • Building master assignment trackers or homework logs

  • Color-coding calendars or time-blocking for daily and weekly planning

  • Checking in weekly to build routines that reduce stress and increase follow-through

Student voice, choice, and ownership are centered throughout this process, helping students take ownership not just of the procedures, but of the outcomes, becoming more independent and effective learners.

Teacher And Student

Inside a Coaching Session

Each 45–50 minute virtual coaching session follows a structured flow:

  1. Build connection, then set clear goals for the session

  2. Identify and organize the student’s tasks; break them into manageable steps

  3. Focus on school assignments with coaching support and accountability

  4. Provide encouragement, reflection, and skill-building as students practice follow-through

  5. Summarize progress and define next steps so the student leaves knowing exactly what to do

Throughout coaching, we provide accountability and encouragement while gradually building independence.

Why Learning Edventures for coaching?

We understand that capable students struggle not because they don’t understand the work, but because they don’t yet have consistent systems to manage it. When executive function skills are still developing, students often:

  • Know what to do but struggle to act on it

  • Feel overwhelmed or disorganized

  • Work in last-minute cycles

  • Depend heavily on reminders

Over time, this can lead to stress, frustration, and decreased confidence for both students and families. What they need is:

  • Structured support

  • Consistent practice

  • Simple, repeatable systems

That is what our program is designed to provide. Small, consistent shifts in habits and systems can significantly change a student’s experience of school from overwhelmed and reactive to more confident, organized, and in control. Every session is customized to your child’s needs, energy level, and goals.

By the end of our work together...
